Captain Marvel Movie Brings Back Major Familiar Faces

The Captain Marvel movie just got a lot more exciting.

Marvel announced that Clark Gregg, Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou will all be returning, reprising their roles as Agent Coulson, Ronan the Accuser and Korath the Pursuer!

We last saw Ronan and Korath in Guardians of the Galaxy, and it didn’t end well for them. It should be of no surprise that they are due to be in this film since they are long-time Kree warriors and this movie is centered around the Kree-Skrull war. But it’s still fantastic that we get to see these guys again, especially Ronan. Ronan is a great character from the comics and I’m glad he gets another shot.

Ronan was so interesting in the comics because he really wasn’t a pure villain. He fought alongside the heroes about as often as he fought against them. Some key storylines he appeared in were the Kree-Skrull War and Annihilation.

But the biggest reason for excitement is confirmation that Phil Coulson is indeed returning to the MCU movies. There’s been talk recently about Coulson returning to the films, possibly in Avengers: Infinity War. Maybe this movie is where Nick Fury first meets a young Coulson who is just joining S.H.I.E.L.D.

So in this movie we have Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as a villain (possibly Yon-Rogg?), and now Ronan and

Korath. Plus the Skrulls!

This is the first time the MCU will feature characters in the past that have already died in present day. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, and we can see more villains returning to films that take place in the past.

It’s hard to get excited for anything other than Infinity War these days but Captain Marvel is doing a pretty damn good job!

Captain Marvel is currently scheduled for release on March 8, 2019.
