Jeremy Renner to Join Spawn?
Reports are surfacing that Jeremy Renner is in talks to star in Todd McFarlane’s Spawn reboot. Jamie Foxx is already attached as Al Simmons/Spawn, but he’s not the central character in the film.
That character is Twitch Williams, a supporting character in the Spawn comic series. Twitch is part of a detective duo, serving as the brains of the team. Laid back and brilliant, Sam and Twitch eventually got their own series.
Renner is said to be in talks to portray Twitch in the upcoming film. Renner is of course Hawkeye in the MCU; does this mean Hawkeye won’t be surviving past Avengers 4? Not necessarily. Renner’s MCU role doesn’t require as much time as some of his co-stars since he doesn’t film solo Hawkeye movies.
It would be a good role for Renner. Unlike his turn as Hawkeye, this could see him starring as the leading role in another comic book movie franchise; that’s a chance he never had as Hawkeye, despite having a solo Hawkeye film in his Marvel contract.
If this does happen, I’ll be very excited about an R-rated Spawn movie with Jeremy Renner and Jamie Foxx.
