Marvel Closing in on Black Widow Director

Marvel has a shortlist of female directors in mind to direct the Black Widow standalone film, which may begin production in 2019.
Those in consideration are Cate Shortland, Amma Asante and Maggie Betts. All three have met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Scarlett Johansson.
Marvel looks to be trying to replicate the female director-female star formula that drove Wonder Woman to huge success last year.
My money is on Shortland. Marvel will be fairly quiet at San Diego Comic Con this year, but maybe we’ll get an announcement then.
