Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Destined to Fail

Updated: Jul 1, 2018

Okay, so we’re still a year away from the Sonic the Hedgehog movie being released. But it’s already destined to be another video game adaptation fail.

The producers are describing this Sonic as a juvenile delinquent and the genre is a buddy cop film. What!?

This is why movies based on video games fail. Massively. Those who produce these projects have no idea what the game is actually about.

Why does Marvel Studios have success? Because they understand their fan base. They play to their loyal audience because they need them. If the hardcore fans don’t support it, it has no chance to succeed.

Other studios have somehow still not grasped that concept. To take Sonic the Hedgehog and transform into a juvenile delinquent in a movie that will have absolutely nothing to do with the theme of the game is absurd and proves the studio, in this case, Paramount, is totally tone deaf to what the fans want.

Here’s a rule; if you’ve never played a video game, you’re not allowed to make a movie about it.

I want video game movies to have the same success that superhero films have. I really do. But as long as this absurdity continues, they have no chance.
